All health data you enter in Brain Tumor Companion is stored exclusively on your device. It is never uploaded to any server, shared with any third party, or accessible to the developer — under any circumstances.
About This App
Brain Tumor Companion ("the App") is a personal health tracking application designed for brain tumor patients and their caregivers. It is developed and maintained as an independent application.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Data We Collect
The App collects only the health information you voluntarily enter. No data is collected automatically. The following types of information may be stored:
- • Personal details — name, date of birth, gender, blood type
- • Medical information — tumor type, WHO grade, diagnosis date, molecular markers (IDH, MGMT, and others)
- • Treatment records — surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, medications
- • Symptom logs — symptom type, severity, date, duration
- • Medication schedule — medication names, dosages, scheduled times, dose history
- • Adverse events — side effects, CTCAE grades, onset and resolution dates
- • Care team information — doctor name, hospital, emergency contact
- • Assessment records — health tracking scores and clinical assessment data
How We Store Your Data
All data is stored exclusively on your Android device using a local SQLite database. Your data never leaves your device.

- 🚫 No analytics — we do not track how you use the App
- 🚫 No advertising — your data is never used for advertising purposes
- 🚫 No third-party sharing — your data is never shared with any third party
- 🚫 No developer access — the developer has no ability to access your data
✅ Your health data is completely private. Only you can access it on your device.
Data Security
Your data security depends on the security of your Android device. We strongly recommend the following to protect your health information:
- • Enable your device screen lock (PIN, pattern, fingerprint, or face unlock)
- • Keep your device's operating system updated
- • Do not share your device with unauthorized users
- • Enable Android full-device encryption if available on your device
The App does not implement additional encryption beyond what Android provides natively at the operating system level.
Data Sharing
You may choose to share your data in the following ways — all sharing is entirely under your control and initiated only by you:
- • Report export — you can generate and share a PDF visit summary with your healthcare team using the Report feature. You choose when and with whom to share this document.
We do not and cannot access your data. No automatic sharing occurs under any circumstances.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you choose to delete it. You have full control over your data at all times.
You can delete all App data at any time by:
- • Using Clear All Data in Privacy Settings within the App
- • Uninstalling the App from your Android device
- • Using Clear Storage in your Android device Settings → Apps
Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered by you or by the developer. We recommend exporting a PDF report before clearing data if you wish to retain a record.
Children's Privacy
Brain Tumor Companion is intended for use by adults aged 18 and older. The App is not directed at children under 13.
If a minor requires use of the App, a parent or legal guardian should supervise and manage the device and application. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
HIPAA Notice
Brain Tumor Companion is a personal health tracking tool for individual use. It is not a covered entity under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and does not function as an electronic health record system.
Data entered in the App is for your personal tracking purposes only and is not part of any official medical record system.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data at all times:
Permissions Used by the App
The App requests the following Android permissions:
- • POST_NOTIFICATIONS — to send medication reminder notifications at your scheduled dose times (Android 13+ only). You can disable notifications at any time in your device Settings.
- • SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM — to deliver medication reminders at precise scheduled times.
- • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — to reschedule medication reminders after your device restarts, ensuring you never miss a dose.
None of these permissions are used to collect, transmit, or share your data. They exist solely to support local notification delivery on your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable laws. Significant changes will be communicated through an in-app notification when you next open the App.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
